About us

World Cat Conservation was founded in 2007 by Jesper Bang-P. Thortzen who also sits as president. We are located on Frederiksberg, Denmark and are running entirely on volunteer help and donations.

Throughout the year we try to raise as many money as possible threw different sponsors and donations and at the end of the year we find out witch of the cat species are at the most critical stage and the money in the donation pot are going to a conservation project working with that species.

We also go on researchtrips to different zoo's and nature parks to see how they work with their cats in captivity, how they show the audience the world of where the different species originates, and how they teach and inspire the audience to learn more about the cats but, also to realise that many of the different species are very close to extinction.
Hopefully this research will give us the perfect way to develop a better method than used today. With this we can learn the audience more about the species, why they are threatened by extinction and inspire them to get involved in the conservationwork. This can be done by donations, or simply by passing the knowledge about the cats situation out to family and friends.

Vision

Our goal is to stabilize and rebuild the amount of cat species living wild in their habitats around the world. This is by supporting projects in local areas that are already a success, teaching locals about the importance of saving the species and also bringing the poaching to a stop. At a later time we would like to be a part of the Zoological World and bring the education and experience for visitors to the next level so our next generations will be inspired to stand together to keep changing the situation for the wild cats into something better.

We believe it is not to late to save the cat species in the wild from total extinction if we start working together and we start doing it now.
